Does this PAYE calculator cover Mainland Tanzania or Zanzibar?
This calculator is designed for Mainland Tanzania employment using NSSF. Zanzibar uses ZSSF and a separate PAYE calculation, so a Zanzibar employee should use the applicable TRA/Zanzibar calculation and payslip rules.

How is monthly PAYE calculated in Tanzania?
The calculator estimates the employee NSSF contribution, deducts it from gross salary to obtain the PAYE calculation base, and applies the configured progressive monthly tax bands. Because allowances and benefits can affect taxable pay, compare the result with the taxable-income figure on your payslip.

How much NSSF is deducted from an employee in Tanzania?
NSSF requires a combined contribution of 20% of monthly wages. The normal split is 10% from the employer and 10% from the employee, although an employer may use a 15%/5% split or pay the full 20%. This calculator uses a 10% employee share.

Why does this Tanzania PAYE result differ from my payslip?
Your employer may use a 5% rather than 10% employee NSSF share, or your taxable pay may include allowances, benefits, bonuses, arrears or other payroll adjustments. Confirm the NSSF split and taxable-income amount before comparing PAYE totals.

Can I calculate gross salary from net salary in Tanzania?
Yes. Select Net mode and enter the desired take-home salary. The calculator estimates the gross salary under its Mainland Tanzania PAYE schedule and 10% employee NSSF assumption. A different NSSF split or additional payslip deductions will change the result.
Is this Tanzania PAYE calculator an official TRA assessment?
No. It is an independent planning estimate. Use it to understand likely PAYE, NSSF and take-home pay, then confirm filing and payment amounts through TRA, NSSF or your employer鈥檚 payroll records.
