Which Uganda PAYE rates apply from July 2026?
This calculator uses the resident monthly PAYE bands currently published by URA: no PAYE up to UGX 235,000, followed by 10%, 20% and 30% bands, plus an additional 10% on income above UGX 10 million. If a payroll form or proposed rate differs, confirm the implemented rate with URA before filing.

How is monthly PAYE calculated in Uganda?
PAYE is calculated progressively, so only the portion of taxable monthly income inside each band is charged at that band鈥檚 rate. This calculator applies the published resident bands after estimating the employee NSSF deduction.

Who must deduct and remit PAYE in Uganda?
Your employer deducts PAYE from qualifying employment income and remits it to URA on your behalf. PAYE returns are generally filed by the 15th day of the month following the deduction.

What should I do if my employer deducted PAYE but did not remit it?
Keep the payslips showing each deduction and ask your employer for proof that its PAYE return and payment included your details. If the issue is not corrected, contact URA with those records. The calculator can estimate the deduction but cannot confirm remittance.

Are Uganda PAYE rates different for residents and non-residents?
Yes. Resident employees receive the UGX 235,000 monthly tax-free threshold, while non-residents are taxed from the first band under a different schedule. This calculator currently estimates resident PAYE.

How is PAYE handled if I have more than one employer in Uganda?
URA states that employment income from more than one place is withheld at a flat 30%. An employee who believes too much tax was withheld may submit returns for all employment income and claim an overpayment.

Why does this Uganda PAYE estimate differ from my payslip?
Your payslip may include taxable allowances, benefits, arrears, bonuses, loan deductions or an NSSF treatment that is not represented by a single gross-salary figure. Compare the taxable pay and each deduction line, not only the final net salary.

Can I calculate gross salary from net salary in Uganda?
Yes. Switch the calculator to Net mode and enter the take-home salary. It estimates the gross salary that produces that net amount under the configured resident PAYE and employee NSSF rules. Treat the result as an estimate when your payslip has other deductions.
