What are the current monthly PAYE bands in Rwanda?

RRA鈥檚 monthly bands are 0% up to RWF 60,000, 10% from RWF 60,001 to 100,000, 20% from RWF 100,001 to 200,000 and 30% above RWF 200,000. The calculator applies these bands progressively.

How much RSSB pension is deducted from salary in Rwanda?

From January 2025, the mandatory pension contribution is 12% of gross salary, split equally between the employee and employer. This calculator deducts the employee鈥檚 6% share.

Who must deduct and remit PAYE in Rwanda?

An employer paying employment income generally withholds, declares and pays PAYE to RRA. If an exempt employer is not required to do so, the employee may need to register, declare and pay PAYE personally.

What is the Rwanda PAYE filing and payment deadline?

PAYE is normally declared and paid by the 15th day of the month following the tax period. Eligible taxpayers with annual turnover below RWF 200 million may choose quarterly PAYE, but RSSB contributions must still be declared monthly.

Can PAYE and RSSB contributions be declared together?

Yes. RRA and RSSB provide a Unified PAYE and RSSB declaration through E-Tax/MyRRA. Separate declarations remain available, but RRA recommends the unified process for newly declaring taxpayers.

How is PAYE handled when I have more than one employer in Rwanda?

RRA states that an employer who is not your first employer must withhold PAYE at the top marginal rate of 30%. You may file an annual declaration if you need to claim a refund for excess tax withheld.

What should I do if my Rwanda PAYE or RSSB contribution is missing?

Ask your employer for the declaration and payment references and compare them with your payslip and MyRRA/RSSB records. If the employer does not correct the record, contact RRA or RSSB with the payslips and employment details. This calculator cannot verify remittance.
